It is a modified rice seed of the PUSA 1121 basmati variety which is resistant to bacterial leaf blight and prevents flattening of crop during rain, hailstorm or strong wind.The yield is also comparatively higher and ripening of the seed also take lesser time than other basmati varieties.
1718 raw basmati rice is also known as Pusa basmati rice and is a hybrid version of basmati. It is grown in various states of India, including Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Uttarakhand.
